About Censys
Censys Search API provides programmatic access to the same internet-wide scan data available through the Censys web search interface. It is a REST API documented via OpenAPI 3.0, with endpoints hosted at search.censys.io. Access requires HTTP basic authentication using an API ID and secret found on the account page, which also lists applicable rate limits.
The API covers hosts, certificates, data, account information, metadata, comments, and tags, along with experimental endpoints subject to change. A Postman Collection and a Python library are available for making API calls.
The Legacy Search product has been disabled for free users, with a newer Censys Platform offered as the current option. Listed use cases include attack surface management, government, and research access.
